1) Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 257:
Narrated 'Abdullah: "During some of the Ghazawat of the Prophet a woman was found killed. Allah's Apostle disapproved the killing of women and children."
2)Sahih Muslim Book 001, Number 0161:
"It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: Avoid the seven noxious things. It was said (by the hearers): What are they, Messenger of Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Associating anything with Allah, magic, killing of one whom God has declared inviolate without a just cause, consuming the property of an orphan, and consuming of usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering chaste women who are believers, but unwary."
3) Sahih Muslim Book 019, Number 4320:
It is narrated by Ibn 'Umar that a woman was found killed in one of these battles; so the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) forbade the killing of women and children.
4)Malik's Muwatta Book 21, Number 21.3.9:
Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw the corpse of a woman who had been slain in one of the raids, and he disapproved of it and forbade the killing of women and children.
5)Qur'an 22.040: "(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will)."
6)Qur'an 2.190: Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.
7) Qur'an 8.061: But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).
8) Qur'an 4.135: O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
9) Qur'an 5.008: O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
10) Qur'an 72.014-15: 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire.'
11) Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 38: Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the nights." (See Fath-ul-Bari, Page 102, Vol 1).
12) Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 669: Narrated Jundub: Allah's Apostle said, "Amongst the nations before you there was a man who got a wound, and growing impatient (with its pain), he took a knife and cut his hand with it and the blood did not stop till he died. Allah said, 'My Slave hurried to bring death upon himself so I have forbidden him (to enter) Paradise.' "
13) Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 446: Narrated Abu Huraira-: The Prophet said, "He who commits suicide by throttling shall keep on throttling himself in the Hell Fire (forever) and he who commits suicide by stabbing himself shall keep on stabbing himself in the Hell-Fire."
14) Sahih Muslim Book 020, Number 4688: It has been narrated on the authority of Sulaiman b. Yasar who said: People dispersed from around Abu Huraira, and Natil, who was from the Syrians. said to him: O Shaikh, relate (to us) a tradition you have heard from the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). He said: Yes. I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: The first of men (whose case) will be decided on the Day of Judgment will be a man who died as a martyr. He shall be brought (before the Judgment Seat). Allah will make him recount His blessings (i. e. the blessings which He had bestowed upon him) and he will recount them (and admit having enjoyed them in his life). (Then) will Allah say: What did you do (to requite these blessings)? He will say: I fought for Thee until I died as a martyr. Allah will say: You have told a lie. You fought that you might be called a" brave warrior". And you were called so. (Then) orders will be passed against him and he will be dragged with his face downward and cast into Hell. Then will be brought forward a man who acquired knowledge and imparted it (to others) and recited the Qur'an. He will be brought And Allah will make him recount His blessings and he will recount them (and admit having enjoyed them in his lifetime). Then will Allah ask: What did you do (to requite these blessings)? He will say: I acquired knowledge and disseminated it and recited the Qur'an seeking Thy pleasure. Allah will say: You have told a lie. You acquired knowledge so that you might be called" a scholar," and you recited the Qur'an so that it might be said:" He is a Qari" and such has been said. Then orders will be passed against him and he shall be dragged with his face downward and cast into the Fire. Then will be brought a man whom Allah had made abundantly rich and had granted every kind of wealth. He will be brought and Allah will make him recount His blessings and he will recount them and (admit having enjoyed them in his lifetime). Allah will (then) ask: What have you done (to requite these blessings)? He will say: I spent money in every cause in which Thou wished that it should be spent. Allah will say: You are lying. You did (so) that it might be said about (You):" He is a generous fellow" and so it was said. Then will Allah pass orders and he will be dragged with his face downward and thrown into Hell.
15) Malik's Muwatta Book 21, Number 21.3.10: The first Imam after Prophet Muhammad, Abu Bakr as-Siddiq said, "I advise you ten things: Do not kill women or children or an aged, infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly."

Question
What is the ruling regarding acts of jihaad by means of suicide, such as attaching explosives to a car and storming the enemy, whereby he knows without a doubt that he shall die as a result of this action?
Response
Indeed, my opinion is that he is regarded as one who has killed himself (committed suicide), and as a result he shall be punished in Hell, for that which is authenticated on the authority of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam).
[((Indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the Fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever)), [Bukhaaree (5778) and Muslim (109 and 110)]].
However, one who is ignorant and does not know, and assumes his action was good and pleasing to Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala), then we hope Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala) forgives him for that which he did out of (ignorant) ijtihaad, even though I do not find any excuse for him in the present day. This is because this type of suicide is well known and widespread amongst the people, so it is upon the person to ask the people of knowledge (scholars) regarding it, until the right guidance for him is differentiated from the error.
And from that which is surprising, is that these people kill themselves despite Allaah having fordbidden this, as He (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala) says:
{And do not kill yourselves. Surely, Allaah is Most Merciful to you}, [Soorah an-Nisaa., Aayah 29].
And many amongst them do not desire anything except revenge of the enemy, by whatever means, be it halaal (permissable) or haraam (forbidden). So they only want to satisfy their thirst for revenge.
We ask Allaah to bless us with foresight in His Deen and action(s) which please Him, indeed He is all Powerful over all things.

Terrorism is defined as "intentionally targeting civilians to advance a political cause."
Muslims are supposed to fight against those who fight them in SELF-DEFENSE! That means if someone comes to kick us out of our land and home, then we fight those who are actually doing the crime. We do not, under any circumstances, just walk into civilian locations and blow ourselves up just because they are a different religion than we are. It is one thing to fight and kill soldiers who are actively participating in the crimes against us, it is another to go into a Pizza Restaurant and blow up women, children, little babies in strollers, elderly, and other non-combantants who are not even fighting us or doing anything aggressive against us! Let alone such atrocities as going into a place where Jews (Ahl Kitab) are celebrating the Passover (when Allah took the Children of Israel out of Egypt) and killing people (mostly elderly) whose only crime is practicing a religious observance! Based on this definition of terrorism, it can clearly be seen that Hamas and Islamic Jihad Militants are not Freedom Fighters but rather terrorists in the truest sense of the word because they continue to intentionally target civilians to advance a political cause ("the liberation of Palestine"). Also being a Martyr in Jihad means going out in a battlefield and having your enemy kill you, not killing yourself in the battlefield, let alone amongst a civilian population. There is not one instance where a sahabi killed himself during a battle and was praised by the Prophet for doing so. Someone who commits suicide is not a Martyr. Someone who is killed by the enemy while defending their home and family is a Martyr.
Another point to be brought up, is that Islam is against nationalism. So that it is haram to fight for a Palestinian state. What is permissible is to fight for a Khilafah. We need all 57 Muslim states united under one caliph, not one more "Muslim" state! Another issue is the principle of "no non-Muslim sovereignty can be tolerated in lands once ruled by Islam." Muslims tend to be quite hypocritical when just focused on Palestine, as if there are no other lands that were once controlled by Islam and now is in the hands of non-Muslims. Let me remind Muslims that besides Palestine, where is the cause for liberating Spain and Southern France from the Catholics? Do we only apply this principle to Jews and not to other religious communities? Why are we not trying to liberate northern India? If we are going to apply this principle to Palestine, we need to apply it to all "Muslim lands" like Spain!

Then we have Muslim clerics out there that there main goal is to spread hate and violence and killing and have no desire for Salaams with the Ahl Kitab. Such as Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais – the veteran Quran reader and imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. He prayed to Allah in 2003 in front of 2 million followers to "terminate" the Jews, who he called "the scum of humanity, the rats of the world, prophet killers ... pigs and monkeys."
Qur'an 8:61: "But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." Since 1993, the Israelis and the Palestinians (PLO) have tried to broker a peace deal, with the Oslo Accords. This peace deal can never happen as long as Muslim Imams are getting on the Khutbahs and preaching hatred of Jews. As long as verses are taken out of context in the Qur'an and Hadith to try to defend a position of making Jihad and not making peace, all we will have is killing and more killing. There cannot be peace without respect. There can be no peace along side with hate. Don't be a hater, be a peace maker.
