Answer: We convert to Islam because first we believe that Prophet Muhammad is a Prophet of God, just like the previous prophets. Proof for that can be seen at: Quran: The Living Miracle!
Second we believe that Islam is the religion of all the Prophets in that Islam means submission to God and all the Prophets taught that.
Third Islam does not teach, "religion that hates him and his people and wish them harm and even death?" You have to make a clear DISTINCTION between Islam and Muslims. While many Muslims hate Jews and wish them harm and even death, Islam does not hate Jews nor wish them harm or death. Islam may teach an Ideal, that does not mean that all MUslims live up to that ideal. Besides that many Muslims have a very distorted understanding of the religion, you can't blame that on the religion!
The most interesting thing about what you said is "I can understand why some Jews convert to chrstianity" First of all, before the 20th century Jews and Muslims got along great, it is only with the coming of Zionism that has created a problem between the 2 groups! While for 2000 years, up until 1945, Jews and Christians never got along, and Christians were always killing Jews, and Christians taught that they should hate Jews as Christ-Killers, and they wished them harm and even death. So if you look at history before the 20th century you would find that the Jews #1 enemy was the Christian, not the Muslim.
Second, Islam is pure monotheism like Judaism, while Chrisitianity worships a triune man god of a Father god that imgregnates a woman and she gives birth to a man god that is all man and all god and Is God incarnate in the flesh. Why would a Jew want to convert to such a polytheistic idolatrous religion as that (Maimonidies agrees that Christianity is idolatry for a Jew, and Islam is NOT!)? Wouldn't he rather convert to a religion that teaches that "THE LORD IS ONE"!
The Prophet said in Sahih Muslim Book 033, Number 6423: There is none born but is created to his true nature (Islam). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian quite as beasts produce their young with their limbs perfect. Do you see anything deficient in them? Then he quoted the Qur'an., 'The nature made by Allah in which He has created men there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion'" (xxx. 33)
The Prophet also said in Sahih Muslim Book 033, Number 6429: "Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The mother of every person gives him birth according to his true nature. It is subsequently his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian. Had his parents been Muslim he would have also remained a Muslim. Every person to whom his mother gives birth (has two aspects of his life) ; when his mother gives birth Satan strikes him but it was not the case with Mary and her son (Jesus Christ)."
The Qur'an says of the Christians:
5.017: "In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every - one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things."
5.072: "They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help."
19.088-92: "They say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!" Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous! At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin, That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious. For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son."
9:31: “They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks (or Pope) and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One Allah. There is no Allah save Him. Be He Glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!”
Imam Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Jarir At-Tabari recorded a Hadith via several chains of narration, from `Adi bin Hatim, may Allah be pleased with him, who became Christian during the time of Jahiliyyah. When the call of the Messenger of Allah reached his area, `Adi ran away to Ash-Sham, and his sister and several of his people were captured. The Messenger of Allah freed his sister and gave her gifts. So she went to her brother and encouraged him to become Muslim and to go to the Messenger of Allah . `Adi, who was one of the chiefs of his people (the tribe of Tai') and whose father, Hatim At-Ta'i, was known for his generosity, went to Al-Madinah. When the people announced his arrival, `Adi went to the Messenger of Allah wearing a silver cross around his neck. The Messenger of Allah recited this Ayah;(They took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah). `Adi commented, "I said, `They did not worship them.''' The Prophet said,(Yes they did. They (rabbis and monks) prohibited the allowed for them (Christians and Jews) and allowed the prohibited, and they obeyed them. This is how they worshipped them.)
4.171: O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
2.116: They say: "Allah hath begotten a son" :Glory be to Him.-Nay, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: everything renders worship to Him.
10.068: They say: "Allah hath begotten a son!" - Glory be to Him! He is self-sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! say ye about Allah what ye know not?
